5 Star is known to be the second largest selling brand of chocolates after Cadbury Dairy Milk in India. The reason for the popularity is obviously the amazing taste and quality. For years 5 Star has successfully managed to wow its patrons by keeping up to the rich chocolaty expectations that everyone has from it. It hasn’t changed over the years and is still the same today.
The new TVC features two old friends meeting at a stall after many years. They meet there by accident. They do not realise that they are there at the same time. Both request for a Cadbury 5 Star. The shopkeeper hands them over two bars and before they are about to bite into their respective bars they realise that the person standing in front of them is a long lost friend.
They look at each and instantly say – Arrey Rameshhhhhhhh — and the other one says – Arrey Sureshhhhhhhhhh. They then take a bite of their favourite bar and in simple words get lost in the amazing taste of the chocolate. Once the bite is over, they come back to life and relive the moment of recognizing each other. The situation repeats until the bar of chocolate has been completely devoured. The stall keeper is obviously baffled.
The brand for a few years now has gone on to suggest that 5 Star is so rich that you will get absolutely lost and fall into a trance when you bite into it. The stance has worked for the brand, so the marketers have continued the same thought, except a new rendition. And a really good one at that.
The characters used for the ad are outstanding, they come across as crazy people somewhere out of a seventies film.
