Agency: Meridian Communications (Gurgaon)
Production House: Nirvana Films
When it comes to portraying kids in a TVC, no one can do it better that Bangalore based Nirvana Films. They effectively showcased ‘Happy to Help’ for Vodafone with some award winning ads, and now have managed to create the same magic for the new Jazz X commercial.
The TVC is based on the insight that people love to drive and often when they are in a foul mood, they will just push the pedal and take off to ‘bring back that feeling’ which they encountered when they were kids. One that is dominated by free spirit, no worries, just an open road, where everyday brings new joy and happiness.
The TVC has a string of situations that features kids experiencing the joy of motion, without any tension. Happy children are featured swinging on a tire, swinging across a fence gate, riding with a smile on a shopping cart trolley and sliding down a swimming pool slide. Each frame captures a certain joy that is associated with all the activities. The analogy is simple, this is the joy you will feel when you drive the Jazz X.
The agency and Honda have made a conscious effort not to design a TVC for the hatchback that dwells on features, they want to focus on the joy that driving the car can bring to one’s life. However the next commercial that will follow will touch upon the immaculate features that a Honda can promise.
Beautifully shot without the help of any voice overs, the background music, direction and happy faces make you really wonder ‘why so serious?’ The car comes from the house of Honda and one does not really feel the need to be swayed in by the features etc. Just the fact that it’s going to make me happy seems enough for the marketers.
