Raymonds: The Complete man

Raymond is one of India’s largest apparel companies which was established in the year 1925. Since then it has managed to take over around 60% of the Indian market share with over 2,100 crores of net earnings. The Raymond Group has been involved in selling of textiles, garments, prophylatics and toileteries with around 6-7 separate brands under its umbrella. Some of their sister brands include:

Manzoni: deals in high end lifestyle clothing which includes formal wears, shirts and t-shirts, jackets, ties, leather accessories etc.

Color Plus and Parx: Their leading premium casual wear brands which offers shirts, trousers, survival gear etc. They have infused technology in their clothing range which makes their clothes  extremely comfortable and increases the utility factors.

Park Avenue: Their premium range formal clothing brand.

Zapp: Focuses on kids wear which also has bed sheets linens and more.

Be Home: A retail chain which houses furnishings and accessories which have been sourced from around the globe.

Another thing which allows the Raymond Group to be on top of the equinox is their advertisements especially the ones for their suiting and fabric. They have been delivering very simple yet eloquent ads and ensures that it finds its way into the regular house hold. Their ads are extremely influential which is executed beautifully and usually shows a man who is the epitome of every quality a person would want to have. They portray a perfect man in their advertisements who is loving, caring, is extremely stylish and put him in a place which would be easier for the audience to accept him for who he is and also be amazed at the same time.

I have personally grown up watching the Raymond ads and seen them change over the years. But one of the best ads that I have seen which recently came out was the one in which they show a pre wedding scene. They show a man who slyly glances at a girl in the crowd when he arranges a gramophone and plays an old Kishore Kumar song, ‘samne ye kaun aaya’. He then goes up to her and starts dancing. The girl initially gets extremely conscious of the people around and tries to refuse to him but finally gives in while the guy handles her beautifully. The climax comes in when a small little kid runs up to them and addresses them as ‘mummy papa’. This is what defines the ad where the advertisement completely gels in with the brand and the idea behind it. The emotional factor attached with the ad which is transformed into an advertisement is what actually makes these advertisements so successful and of course the brand in the longer run.
