The last Samsung Guru had Amir Khan getting set to take on a new job in the city. As he prepared himself to leave, he gifted his girlfriend and his dad a Samsung phone so that they could stay in touch.
The new Samsung Guru commercial has brand ambassador Amir Khan enjoying his new found success in the city in a humble manner. The ad shows Amir Khan calling his father from his new cell phone and new phone number. The father answers the phone not knowing who the call is from, when he realises that it is his son he promptly says like a strict father, wondering why his son has a new number ‘Arrey yeh doosra number kaunsa hai?”
He humbly answers to his dad that he’s got a promotion and therefore bought himself a new Samsung dual sim phone. Father replies ‘wah beta, promotion mil gaya toh kharche bhi shuru”. He tried to pacify his father by telling him that the move to another phone was intentional and sensible because he uses one sim to make long calls and the other for short calls, that way he actually saves money.
The TVC is well made and Amir Khan plays the obedient son very well. The film signifies the mentality a lot of fathers posses, that of thinking that their kids will only take on habits that are wasteful. But a good son, Amir shows us that not all young men are wasteful and have many ways of saving money by taking on the opportunities technology has presented us with today.
The ad is targeted towards people who do not want to be too wasteful and are intelligent enough to spend the right amount of money to secure savings at the end of the day. The Samsung Guru allows you to do that.
