The lilting soundtrack stick on to your mind long after the Tanishq Glam Gold TVC has made its 30 second appearance on prime time. The new Tanishq ad may not be as endearing as the last ad for the Bridal collection, however it does manage to showcase the class and sophistication that is attached to the target audience that will adorn these beautiful pieces.
The ad begins with the launch of a new book by a young author called ‘Gossip’. She is happy and joyous and walks around at the launch meeting people who have only nice things to say about her most recent book. Before going any further, the entire TVC has been shot in mono tone with the exception of a stark figure who comes into the party, a late and grand entry – somehow her poise reminds me of Shobha De.
She is I’m guessing a personality in the same circle and is well respected due to many reasons. However all off a sudden everyone throngs to her like moth to a flame and the object of celebration who is the writer gets left behind in the backdrop. The new entry dressed in the latest Tanishq collection pieces looks beautiful and suddenly realises what has happened. She looks over and notices that the author is shifting nervously and drinking alone with a sad look on her face.
She makes note and excuses herself, she tells her husband that she must leave because her head is hurting. He escorts her to the car. While she silently looks out of the window and hums away the title tune, he asks her “Yeh headache ka natak kyon”. She smiles, looks at him and softly says, “Kisi ki sham churane se toh behetar hai”.
Simple yet powerful, the copy for the TVC manages to break the clutter and make you feel proud of the woman who commands so much respect and still respects those who are just starting out or are not as sought after as her. The TVC is indeed well made and identify perfectly the woman who will sport a Glam Gold piece.
