Agency: Ogilvy and Mather
Production House: Nirvana Films
There is a reason why Vodafone insists on using O&M and Nirvana Films to conceptualise and execute their ads. The reason indeed is very simple, it is simplicity. From the humble pug to the ever expressive ZooZoo, they have managed to instantly make a connect with their audience. Most of the ads are made for the services they provide their customers. And retention of each service has indeed been clever and easy to comprehend.
So, just when we think that the duo has nothing else to offer, they surprise us with a refreshing ‘Blackberry Boys’ jingle, an ad that has indeed managed to steal the hearts of young and old alike. It’s unlikely that you have missed the ad, because whenever the ad is on air, you cannot ignore the liberating tune of ‘We’re the blackberry boys’.
Well, to get to what the ad is all about – It starts of with a couple of executives, dancing to the tunes of ‘We’re the Blackberry Boys’. You can very well see the smug look on their faces that suggest, we’re very cool and we own a Blackberry unlike common folk who have to settle for phones that do not allow them to chat and send e-mails.
As the song progresses, little by little a whole bunch of young, smart and dynamic looking cool people join them in singing ‘We’re the Blackberry Boys’. The best part about the TVC however is the look on their faces, that of absolute astonishment. It seems to suggest – “Now what do we do”.
The TVC does a great job in emphasizing that Vodafone Blackberry services are not meant just for office folk, absolutely everyone is invited. The TVC was conceptualised with a brief that now even prepaid users on Vodafone on Blackberry can use unlimited Blackberry services at a basic fee of Rs 15 a day.
It is indeed one of the best ads on air today.
