Volkswagen- Curves are back

This ad is so much better than the previous ad for the VW Beetle. Priced at a whopping 20 Lacs in the country the Beetle is sure to take the country by storm. For generations the car has been a icon and finally it’s set to make its appearance on Indian roads. For those who cannot afford it, they can feast their eyes on the car as it whizzes past you on the road and vicariously enjoy the ride. And for those who have a penchant for advertising, this ad is a must watch.
The ad is elegant and crazy at the same time. By which I mean it starts off with a slim, sexy woman walking into a swanky restaurant dressed in her favourite little black dress. She’s hot, cute and very attractive. As she walks in one can notice a waiter serving her, only to reveal as she sits down that the table is laden with goodies of all types. From meats to sweets. The waiter politely asks her “Will anyone be joining you ma’am”, to which she softly answers, “No”. She then breaks into a frenzy and devours everything that is on the table.
The ad ends with screen shot of the car and a super which says ‘Curves are back’. Interesting advertising that makes for a must watch. Great work by the agency and production house, after a series of not so brilliant ads for the VW cars they have finally managed to create communication that is memorable.
The car is indeed not one that is going to adorn everyone’s garage, but the very fact that it is in India makes the population extremely happy. Great advertising is always looked forward to and we hope that other car companies take the hint and continue to produce advertising that is just as surprising and admirable.
